For a few short weeks each year, our flower shop fills with armloads of lush pink, white, coral, and crimson peonies. Their oversized blooms, intoxicating fragrance, and fleeting availability make them one of the most sought-after flowers in San Francisco.
As florists, we’re surrounded by beautiful flowers every day. Yet peony season still feels special.

From a California Family Farm to San Francisco
Many of the peonies we offer at Polk Street Florist come directly from Lassen Ranch, one of the last remaining commercial peony farms in California.
Located between Petaluma and McArthur in Shasta County, Lassen Ranch grows approximately 25 acres of peonies and other seasonal flowers. While many peonies sold in the United States are shipped from Oregon or flown in from Alaska, Lassen Ranch continues the tradition of growing exceptional peonies right here in California.
Owner Victor Neve comes from a family of California flower growers and has spent most of his life cultivating flowers. Along with a small local crew, he grows peonies, lilacs, viburnum, clematis, and other seasonal favorites.
Because we purchase directly from Victor during peony season, our customers enjoy incredibly fresh blooms that often arrive just days after harvest.
